As a reporter for the Mets and the Yankees, Ed Lucas covered the playoffs, the World Series and the All Star game. Ed has worked as a syndicated radio personality and has been inducted into the New Jersey Sports Hall of Fame. Ed Lucas is also blind.

I would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you from everyone here at the Ed Lucas Foundation and David Cone Celebrity Golf Classic.

Our 2024 golf event was incredibly successful due to your support and generosity. I would like to acknowledge Jerry Kallman and Peter Cancro of Jersey Mike’s for continuing as our Major Title Sponsor. I sincerely thank Jim Rizzo and BCB Bank for becoming our Dinner Sponsor. Through your support, I am happy to report the Ed Lucas Foundation was able to distribute Grants totaling $141,000, a 57% increase over the previous year, to the following sight-related and special needs charities:

• The Seeing Eye - Training guide dogs for the blind

• Seton Hall University - Scholarships and adaptive equipment for students with special needs

• The Independence Fund - Adaptive equipment for wounded veterans.

• JDRF - Diabetes research, to battle the number one cause of blindness

• Visions - Programs for the visually impaired adult community

• UCP - Cerebral Palsy research

• Macular Degeneration Research Foundation - Research of the macula and retinal diseases of the eye

• Center for Disability Services - Offering support to the special needs community

• Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation - Support of lung disease research

• BaseAble - Supporting the joy of learning how to actively participate in the game of baseball for the special needs community

The David Cone Celebrity Golf Classic will be held on Thursday August 7, 2025. We look forward to having you join us in support of this wonderful cause as we continue the legacy and spirit of Ed Lucas.
